I have noticed that my writer has slowed considerably and whn I checked the DMA is switched off, would this be causing it, and if so how do I switch it on? I'm sure it was on before, I've looked in device manager and can't fine anywhere to switch it on, I've looked and use DMA if available is checked but it's using PIO mode, I don't really know what I'm talking about, so if someone could explain to me really simply I'd be very grateful. Running XP home, have DVD played, Writer and CD re-writer installed
The DMA has turned itself off again now and I'm back to PIO mode any suggestions anyone, it's the slave to the hard drive. I have a cd writer and DVD rom on the secondary and they are both DMA enabled, if anyone has any suggestions please let me know
Thanks for that anyway I'll just have to leave it as it is, as there is no way I'm going to fiddle with any connections, I'm just not up to it, knowing my luck nothing would work after. It just seemed peculiar that the DMA was enabled the other day and now it's not, there must be a reason I suppose, but then again it could be a mystery!!!!!!!!!!!!
