dvd recorder or tv capture card

Can someone advise which is a better option.

I want to record tv on DVD. Shall i get a tv capture card, capture the tv programs onto my hard disk and then burn it to a dvd disc using a dvd writer or get a dvd video recorder?

If go for the first option, can anyone suggest a suitable buget tv capture card.

Also i believe that a dvd recorder cannot record copyrighted dvd or vhs tape. But can i get a pc software which will rip a copyrighted dvd and then burn it off to a blank dvd disc.

I'd go for a DVD recorder mate - there more dedicated and will be quicker - and besides you will need some serious hard disk space if u want to capture a full movie for example - and then some serious processing power to convert to a DVD!! (and a lot of patience)
