Hi, My father having a problem I dont know the answer so thought I'd ask here. He has recently upgraded his laptop to Win xp pro. Now it will not recognise dvd's in the drive. It recognises software and music cd's though. He cannot go back to old operating system as he has over written it with the xp. Any ideas to what the problem could be? The drive is a QSI DVD/ROM SDR/081 if this is of any help. Thanks Dax.

Apparently dvd drives have two lenses, one for dvd and one for cd, so maybe the dvd lens just needs cleaning.

just had a look at windrivers forum, this is a quote off a thread " I've googled SDR-081 and found many people looking for XP drivers (to no avail). " So could be drivers prob.

If you have the disc for it try upgrading driver.

Been on HP site and i dont think it will run on XP, it says w95 w98 NT, unless they have done a driver for it on XP site.

No XP drivers site sends you back to HP and shows no drivers. ;-)

Buy him a new one.....

When i open emails with pictures the picture box shows but no pictures, in the message box it reads"some pictures have been blocked to help prevent the sender from identifying your computer" "click here to download pictures" and on clicking the pictures download ok.
My question is: do I need this blocking and if not how can I turn it off
O.s is win xp home edition with sp2 and Mcafee firewall installed
Many thanks
