DVD Drives have disappeared?! help.

  LBUMIKE 18:15 10 Jan 2006

I bought a pc with one DVD combo drive, but decided i needed another...
I recently bought the LG GSA-4167 super multi DVD drive (as recommended in last months issue).
Connected the IDE connection and power. Turn on my computer and now neither my Orginal DVD Drive (d:) or the new LG dvd drive is shown on "my computer". I have tried to "add new Hardware" with no success also my "device manager" doesn't even show me having a DVD drive at all.
any help will greatly appreciated.

Make sure the jumpers on the rear of the drives are set properly, one to master and the other to slave.

how do you set the jumpers at the rear? i looked into the manual... all it appears to be is just a socket?

If you have problems LBUMIKE make sure the new drive is set as the master and the old one is set as the slave as a lot of DVD writers do not like being set as slave, don't know why but they don't.
