DVD drive won't burn - Disc not writable

  Andyb43 19:57 20 Jun 2005

I have a NEC ND 3500 AG dvd writer, when I try to burn any DVD, it says that the disc is not writeable, when it is writable. I am using Nero, but have tried using other programs, but I get the same message.

PS I am using Windows XP.

Have you turned off the in-built XP burning software?

Open My Computer.

Right-click your DVD writer and select Properties.

Click the Recording tab and remove the tick next to "Enable CD recording on this drive"

What type of disk are you trying to use?

Check the driver can write to those discs DVD-R or DVD+R

Is the disk already full and finalised?

Some drives are fussy about the manufacturers disks one of my machines will not burn certain discs.
