DVD drive acting up

  Devious Dave 20:01 27 Jun 2003

My father tells me that when he tries to play DVDs on his machine the playback is terrible. He says the sound and video are not in sync with each other and the sounds are sometimes repeated. The behaviour happens on both windows media player and powerDVD, so this points to the drive being at fault as the DVD disc works fine on my PC. Any suggestions to why this is happening and how to solve it before I ring Evesham and get the drive replaced.

XP Home, 1.8 Gig, 256MB SDRAM.

Thanks, David.

Make sure XP has not disabled DMA mode for the DVD drive and set it to PIO.

...but how do I go about doing what you suggested.
