DVD / CD issue

Why do my DVDs /CDs always show as having zero space left when only a few data items have been burned to them? Is this 'normal'?

They are write once disks, once you burn something the burning software closes the disk.

So yes it is. Use the mutli-session feature that lets you keep adding stuff til it's full.

No, they are not write once disks. All my CDs and DVDs are either -RW or +RW. I mainly use them like a floppy, writing and rewriting over again. But as soon as I start they show as having zero space available. The pie chart shows them as fully recorded, even with just a small tect file or single jpg. So I cant tell how much space is left. This applies whether I use WXP burner or the NTI burner / File CD.

Just do a sum. 700MB for a CD and 4.5GB for a DVD.

It's the same principal, when it's burned it's seen as a closed disk. But then you can rewrite over it as it's RW, in your buring software.
