My DVD burner has suddenly stopped burning discs. It continues to copy CD's perfectly well but not DVD's.I have not made any recent system changes, nor have I changed the media type either. Periodically, I can get it to burn if done at a very slow speed but more times than not it fails immediately the second the burning process starts.I used a function of Nero to identify drive problems and it said that (asci or acsi?) files were missing or incomplete.Any advice?Gary Lucas.
oPTICAL SYSTEM NEEDS A CLEAN.
Night Ryder's suggestion is hopefully the one you want to read.A normal DVD head cleaner available from comuter/Audio shops- It is a CD disc with a small brush and a bottle of fluid.- costs a fiver or less - just follow the instruction. The next suggestion you wont want to read A new drive!
Two sets of lasers for a DVD if burns CD ok but not DVD then possibly laser gone.1. clean with lens cleaner2. check IDE cable fully insert at rear of drive3. You have selected DVD rather than CD in your burning software?
Sure it didn't say it was missing the ASPI files? click here
