Dual Screening with DVI-D and VGA

I'm looking to implement a dual screen set up, I currently run windows 7. The primary video port in use at the moment is VGA, there is only a DVI-D port left available on the tower, the question is can I just buy a DVI-D supporting monitor and a DVI-D male to male cable and plug the new monitor in? will that allow me to run a dual screen set up?

Thanks

No.

Anything to add to that Graham or are we trying to bleed out as little information as possible?

No, it's not quite as simple as that. It depends on your graphics card etc. and you haven't given us enough info.
