Dual Layer Read Only DVD

  D Bird 12:44 27 Dec 2007

I bought some Verbatim 8.5GB DVD +R DL discs to do a system backup and make recovery discs as recommended in a previous posting. I tried to use the discs to do this but it eventually came back to tell me not to use re-writable discs or to choose a better make of disc.

In small writing on the label I noticed a tiny RW logo but it certainly wasn't clear on the label as I wouldn't have bought them if they were RW discs? I've since been into shops and cannot find any Verbatim discs without that tiny RW logo.

Can anyone please advise?

All DVD discs have the RW logo on them. That does not mean they are RW discs.

I have just looked at some of my DVDs and they all have the RW logo on them but they are DVD-R 4.7gb and DVD+R and Double Layer 8.5gb DVD+R.

The only DVDs that don't have anything on them are the Inkjet Printable Full Face DVDs.

If you use the Nero Info Tool on the Disk tab it will read and tell you the type of media you have in the drive

Thanks for that.

Do I need to format the disc/s before creating my backup?
