dual layer dvd burning

How can I check if my drives are suitable for burning dual layer dvd's

device manager shows drive to be Optaric DVD+-RW AD-5170S

Should be a "DL" logo on the front of the drive, in with all the other logos.

Optaric is the new brand name for the Sony/NEC optical drives venture; I have the Sony AD-5170A version and it is Dual Layer capable.

When these first came onto the market earlier this year there were Sony and NEC versions; Optaric is presumably a sensible way of reducing manufacturing costs by utilising a single brand name on the drives.

To be absolutely correct, my Sony is a AW-G170A, but it's the same specification - it will write to DVD-R DL media.

Excellent drive by the way.
