Dual Boot XP and Windows 7

  BigAl127 08:40 09 Nov 2009

I've just installed Windows 7 Ultimate on seperate partition on a new hard drive. However, some drivers are not available or aren't working i.e. HP Laserjet 1018 and Dymo Labelwriter 310.

So I thought, i'll dual boot with XP Pro. Installed that on a seperate partition, but now the pc will only boot into XP.

When I look in Computer Managerment on XP, the XP partition shows as "Boot". Is there anyway to make both Partitions "Boot"?

Or is it a case of installing XP first, then Windows 7 to be able to dual boot? As this it what all the sites i've now looked at appear to be saying.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Because you installed XP after Windows 7, boot.ini is handling the booting not bootmgr.

Download EasyBCD, scroll down click here and get the instructions click here

Go to the Add/Remove Entries Tab to add Windows 7, choose default, etc.
