dual boot to single boot

my 'c' drive is windows ME, and my 'e' drive is windows xp. both on one hard disk. now i no longer have any use for ME, so would like to delete that partition. but would i be right in thinking that the master boot record is on that partition so i will end up with a pc that will not boot? and if i could delete it, will i need to rename my 'e' drive to 'c' ?

I run a duel boot XP & Linux and accidently deleted the Linux partition when messing about in Root and as the duel boot loader ( Grub ) was damaged I could not boot into XP.
So I repaired the MBR from the XP disk using the recovery console.
But with your MBR being on the C drive this will work I do not Know, if you want to look at the procedure click on this link.
