Dual Boot

I have been trying to install XP, with Vista already installed on a new 80Gig Western Digital HDD.
The install formats, and loads files, then at the reboot,
“Press any Key to Boot from CD, it freezes.
I leave it for an hour, nothing changes.
If I press any key it formats and loads files again then freezes at Press any Key.
I tried 3 times over three days, same result, and I have to repair Vista startup
to get back into vista

Did you partition the HDD before you tried to install Vista??

ambra
your click here i have already used, i printed out each page, and followed them carefully.
thats how i knew how to get back into Vista.
i am now going to partition the 250Gig drive,
and following your click here, try to install XP on that drive.

It failed.
I disconnected Vista (sata ) drive and put back the 80Gg (data ) drive,
and XP installed.
After repairing Vista boot loader I tried Easy BSD, but it would not
Let me change C:\ to G:\, C:\ was grayed out.
If I let it boot up it goes to XP, I have to press F11 at bootup to go into Vista.
Is there any other Boot Manager I could try?.

Hi,

When I set up my dual boot,I installed XP first, you should install the older OS first. Then fitted and formatted the second SATA drive. VISTA was then installed on the new drive.VISTA set everything up.No Boot Manager was required.

Do you have both OS on disc, can you install using my way???.

It was recommended to me via a thread I started about dual booting,I have not used it,but might help
