My PC has 2 partitions both with an O/S on. When I start computer it gives me an option of which partition I wish to go in but they are both called 'Microsoft Windows XP Professional'. Can I change their names to make them more identifiable?

How to edit the Boot.ini file in Windows XP
click here

This tells you how to do it -

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect

Where it says "Windows 2000 Professional" above, you should have Windows XP Professional" and you can change what is within the brackets to whatever you want it to read - eg gaming OS.

I assume you enter the notepad and make the changes? If so, it hasn't worked!
