Hi
I have just had to re-install windows XP but now when I boot up a dialog box comes up saying "drvcheck.dll load failed". I click OK them everything seems to work perfectly. I have downloaded drvcheck.dll but I don't know where to put it. Any advice? Clean answers only please.
Thanks

Possible solution from pcreview.co.uk:

1.. Double click on My Computer.
2.. Double click on the C: drive.
3.. Double click on the folder windows.
4.. Double click on the folder system32.
5.. Look for the file called DrvCheck.dll. Right click on the file and rename it to DrvCheckold.dll.
6.. Click on this link to download the new file: DrvCheck
7.. When asked to save the new file save the file in this directory. C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32
8.. Reboot your computer.

I tried the above....now my laptop wont boot at all !! I am now using my desktop

The message is exactly as below:

Reboot and Select proper Boot device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key

what do I do now?

Sorry

just above that message it says:

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting NVIDIA Boot Agent

then

Reboot and Select proper Boot device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key

Is the Bios set to Boot from your hard drive?

You may have to do an XP Repair, Booting from CD (i.e. your XP installation disk). See:

DON'T use the Recovery Console option if you undertake a Repair - it's explained in the link.
