Drunken Mouse Pad

  Adz1310 20:26 03 Apr 2006

Hi guys,
Recently my mouse pad seems to go crazy every so often. The mouse pad seems to be drunk!!!! You start to move it and it seems to go alot more one way or the other. Does anyone know why this is, or how to fix it?

Try just moving the mouse...:-)

Ive tried that, it becomes unbearable, that the only way is to restart!

A mouse mat on a laptop??

Why have you got a mouse mat on a laptop??

They usually sit on the desk with the mouse on top of the mat.

Or is this a wind up?

You mean a touchpad, don't you?

Try uninstalling the device (have a mouse plugged in and operational before doing this!) and then reinstall the driver (laptop manufacturer's version preferably) after a reboot.

yeah sorry a touch pad!!

If you mean your touchpad is over sensitive, you can adjust this. If your go to start then control panel and double click the mouse option, you'll get a new 'mouse properties' box up. Click on the pointer options box and move the slider down to the left until it's at a comfortable pace and click ok.

If you have other software running the mouse rather than XP's own then you may well have to adjust this instead, it will generally be a small icon in the bottom right corner of the screen, synapsis or similar.

Also found on the last tab of the aforementioned Mouse properties window, entitled Hardware.
