DrTCP run on W/7

  birdface 16:46 13 Sep 2010

I have had a few problems lately with script errors and slow page changing and noticed DrTPC on my computer which I used about a month ago and forgot about.
It did say it was compatible with all Windows but did not notice the date.
Having read some more about it today it says not compatible with Vista or W/7.
Would it have done any lasting damage to W/7 as it does seem to be getting slower every week.
Can't do a system restore as I deleted most restore points.
Ran all of the usual stuff.
Is there anything else that can be downloaded that make W/7 run better.
I meen a program like TCP but for W/7.
I am only assuming that may be my problem as running out of Idea's.

You do seem to be having more problems than usual at the moment. If I were you I think I would do a Repair Install It doesn't take long, and keeps all your Data etc.
It might pay you to get rid of all suspect programs beforehand, you can always reload one by one if you really need them.

Thanks rawprawn i was thinking along those lines myself.
The last time I tried a system repair I missed the repair sign and ended up doing a reformat.
I have tried a chkdsk sfc /scannow and most other things that I can think of without any success.
It is just a niggle at the moment as I know something is not Quite right but trying to fix it is the problem.
I could use Firefox but I am used to I/E.
I will keep trying until I fix it or do a system repair.
Waiting for IE9 beta to come out tomorrow or wednesday to see if that helps.

I am not sure that installing a "Beta IE 9" will help at all.I would feel more like uninstalling suspect programs rather than installing.

I was just reading your click here about system repair and it put me off a bit.
Not sure if there is a way of deleting IE8 on W/7 I know you can remove it without deleting it in add remove.
I am going to hang on till this gets a bit worse before I decide what to do.
It Works not to bad with script turned off.
If no better in the next couple of weeks I will either do the system repair or the full reformat.

Ok time to put this to bed.
Works Ok with script turned off so will carry on until it deteriorates or gets better.
Thanks for your help and suggestions rawprawn.
