drivers for sony handycam help!

I have a sony dcr trv255e handycam.When i insert into the usb my computer is not picking it up.What can i do?

Which operating system are you using? Do other USB devices work okay?

windows xp.yes other usb devices work fine.When i switch on my computer something comes up about sony usb drive but not quite sure what it means or says off the top of my head and dnt know if this has anything to do with it.

Post that message, shorty08, let's see what it says. Off-hand, do you have the camera set so that the PC can see it, maybe there's a PC button (or similar) on the camera, which needs to be engaged. Have you followed the steps, exactly, in the manual, to connect the camera to the PC?

thought all i had to do was connect usb cable and computer would find it.Cant find the manual either.Will post the message i get tomorrow as i would have to restart my computer to get it.And the camera doesnt have a pc button.

It appears, from the manual, that "USB Stream" (as they call viewing on your PC) is deactivated by default, you have to activate it in the Setup Menu, see page 57.
