Not sure but you could try device manager and see if any yellow exclamation marks beside any of the drivers.
If so maybe try rolling the driver back and see if that works.
You can delete the driver and reboot and Microsoft should download the new driver for you.
But as I am not sure what driver it is maybe you are better waiting for someone to give you the advice that you need.

There is always this to try and it is free.

I used in when I was using XP and it updated a few drivers for me but when running it again it would still come up with some of the same driver updates.
So it is just a matter of keeping a check of what has been updated.

Another free one is Driver Max but unfortunately it will only let you update one driver per day.It is handy if you do not have many to update.

There are 2 with exclamation marks.

1) HS 3d Sensor1394 VIA....in driver details it says
Your computer's system firmware does not include enough information to properly configure and use this device. To use this device, contact your computer manufacturer to obtain a firmware or BIOS update. (Code 35)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.

2) Microsoft 6to4 adapter...and it says
This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.

Hi.Once again not sure of what you should do.i do know that occasionally Microsoft gives you bad downloads.
So maybe rolling back or deleting the drivers may help!.
But I would wait until someone can give you positive advice.

okay buteman, thanks! XX

Just ignore my comments until someone else can help.
While waiting give your Security programs a run just to make sure there is no other problems.

1394 is a Firewire device download and install the VIA chipset drivers and or anything there is regarding firewire from the ACER web site support section

you will probably need to enter your model number and or a service tag number to get to the correct downloads for your machine

Cheers HC

Hiya, thanks for the help....right i found a NVIDIA chipset driver that needs updated so i downloaded the driver then a box came up saying ' open with win-rar ' so my question is how do i install the driver? Im sorry if im being a pain! Thanks

  Zeppelyn 14:21 04 Dec 2009

You would need Winrar or 7Zip to open a .rar file. I checked Acer site and if you select Chipset and Vista SP1 then a zip file is offered which Windows can open.
