hi all,is it safe to use free software like driver detective,i have run a scan on my pc using this and it says i have drivers that need upgrading and missing drivers etc,or should i just leave well alone.your opinions would be much appreciated.thanks.

Updating driver just because you can is a bit suspect. If the PC is running OK then updating drivers has been known to cause problems. If there is a good reason to do it then fine but otherwise I should advise against the practice.

Now you can use Driver Max you can get the free version of that.Unfortunately with the new version you can only update one or two drivers a day.But it does a good job.
You could download SIW that will tell you what you have on your computer and it is just a matter of browsing for updates from the makers.

Have to agree with johndrew, unless you are addressing a very specific problem leave well alone. Even then I would make a full (Acronis) backup before having a play.
