drive not recognised

I recently wiped a drive and installed Wxp on it. If I use the drive on it's own it works ok but, when I install it as a slave drive alongside the M drive and try to use it, I get the message..'drive not formatted' Any ideas please ?

To start, you don't need XP on it if it is going to be used as a slave drive.

What is on the M drive? Do you have an operating system installed there?
Does it show up in disk management? Right click my computer, choose manage and then disk managment.

Diodorus, I think you have pointed out my mistake. I initially used the drive as an external one and had problems with that. It's no wonder. I will reformat it and just 'add' it because yes, there is an (XP)OS on the M drive.

Many thanks for your help.

D, I formatted the drive and although it shows up in D. Mngr. In 'files & folders' it is highlighted in 'blue' but reveals no files or folders?
