drive management advice

  gourmand 22:27 21 Jul 2009

Hi, I have two hard drives, the first has two partitions, system and boot as you would expect.
The second has been used as a backup and is marked as "Active". I wish to reformat this drive and partition it and I am not sure what "Active" means. I cant see that this should be a problem but I thought I had better make sure!
Advice would be appreciated.

It means that it is useable. If you format it, all data will be removed. Where does it say it's "active"?

In "Disc Management", I understand I will loose al data but I have that backed up elsewhere.

Mine just says "healthy"

My two external drives also 'say' Healthy. Anyway, you can go ahead and format your drive as you wish, but personally I don't believe in having Partitions.
