Drive Letters in XP

  DJ-Garry 08:26 27 Apr 2004

I've added a second hard drive to my XP Pro machine. Before I had C: assigned to my HDD, and D: to my DVD-RW. With Win98se adding a second HDD would push the DVD up to E: and give D: to the second HDD. My DVD is still D: and the second HDD is E:. Is this normal? If it's not, how can I change it please?
Thanks, Garry.

Yes, it is normal. But it can also be changed easily.

Go into disk management and you can assign drive letters from there - right click on my computer and choose manage.

You may be well advised to keep it as Windows wants. If you have any part of your O/S that recognises your DVD as the "D" drive and you have changed to to something else, there could be problems.
