A:Drive has a problem

  TommyRed 00:24 30 Apr 2003

When I try to format a floppy I get the following message "There is no disk in the drive or the drive door is open. Insert a disk in the drive and make sure the drive door is closed and then click retry" There is a disk in the drive, and I've tried it on numerous disks, same message. I can do an erase (quick) format but not the full jobby, it is also writing any data to the floppy ok and I can load any data from a floppy. This has only happened since I fitted a CD-RW. My OS is 98SE. Any ideas?

Or possible knocked the Floppy drive inside?.

Go in Device manager, Remove/delete the Floppy Drive then restart Win XX this will/should reload the driver.

Does the Floppy Drive light stay green all the time ?.

If it carries on playing a wobbler, I would replace your drive if all above fails.

Posible that you may have crushed or damaged all your floppies ?, are they in fair condition and fairly new ?.
