i cannot find anything on the mskb site for Error 0xD0000022 sorry.

try the usual start/run type msconfig, click the start up tab and untick everything and restart.if this works ok go back and add one item to the start up tab at a time to maybe find out what it is.

any errors reported in event viewer?

  Â ÑÌÇKÑÂMË 16:04 03 Mar 2004

There is loads of things in the event viewer,

IMAPI cd burning Com service, services has entered a stopped state

WINLOGON the shell stoped unexpectadly and was restarted, loads of these

True Vector engine c:\windows\internet logs\HOMEPC.ldb was corrupt and has been copyied
and deleted lots of these too,

WMIadapter open of service failed

Perfnet unable to open the server service Error code returned is in data DWORD 0.

Eventsystem the COM+ event system detected a bad return code during its internal processing HRESULT was 80070422 from line 44 of d:\nt\com\com1x\src\events\tier1\eventsystemmobj.cpp

VSS VOLUME SHADOW COPY service error calling routine CoCreateintance. hr=0x80040206

Application popup machine check regs

The list goes on and i have no idea what causeing it all but it getting worse IE locked while i was typing this and came back on again.

  hugh-265156 16:08 03 Mar 2004

only the ones with a red x are errors, the rest is for info only like imapi entering the stopped state.

truevector errors are zonealarm related.

  Â ÑÌÇKÑÂMË 16:21 03 Mar 2004

Wouls ZA cause all these programs to fail?, i never used to till i went with the pro version.

  hugh-265156 16:28 03 Mar 2004

with a previous build of the free version i had loads of true vector errors listed in event viewer and shutdowns/restarts/hangs etc with all sorts of apps.

note down the times of any hangs etc and see if a true vector error is listed in event viewer for that time and date.

Well ,all this mess down to a virus,Niachi b and
im patched and avg is upto date but didnt find it
ran online scan didnt find it ran stinger it did 6 files infected in all and most were MS patches
or so they said have now got rid of all them. But an still concerned i did a port scan and 1 of my ports was open number 5000,and the feed back was it could be a Trojan (only could be) either
Bubbleneck, sockets de whatever and another i cant remember i done a trojan scan as well and found nothing also running trojan software and that finds nothing is there a way to close this port or see what opened it?.There is only this 1 open,i have had emails galore with this and other viruses in and AVG found em all or so i thought guess nothing certain these days.

universal plug and play(not plug and play) uses this port.as could something something else but check:

to turn off universal plug and play click:

start/control panel/performance and maintenance/administrative tools/services

scroll down to "universal plug and play device host" double click it and set the start up type to "disabled" (its not needed by us home users)

i would also set to disabled "SSDP descovery service"

restart the computer to take effect.

see click here for more info.

ÑÌÇKÑÂMË after re reading your above post again im wondering if you have been tweaking any services lately? have a read click here and set to "safe" may help with some errors listed in event viewer.click on each service listed on the site for a detailed description of what it does.using xp home the safe settings give me no problems at all.restart to take effect after change.
