DPC Watchdog Violation - Windows 8/8.1 - any fix?

As per the title, is there a permanent fix to the above BSOD, and what actual;ly causes this to happen?

I have got Windows 8 Pro, recently updated to Windows 8.1 via the Store app on my PC.

It's a Dual-core G620 2.60Ghz processor with 4GB RAM desktop PC.

All is working well otherwise, but this BSOD happens at the most inconvenient moment. It's driving me mad.

I have got AVG Free running on here with Online Armor Free firewall.

Please advise.

Thanks.

Thanks Brynit,

Really useful link and it's handy to know.

Have updated everything on my PC - Drivers, updates etc.

Let's see how it goes from here.

I have also had this problem daily after updating to Windows 8.1. All my drivers are updated (using Driver Reviver) and I don't have a SSD drive. Having noticed that it always happened when using Firefox I have lately been using Chrome and I haven't seen a BSOD since then!
