Download Speeds

Hi Peeps,

A friend of mine told me he gets download speeds of 200kb/ps+ when downloading torrents, but the best i seem to get are around 20kb/ps. I've tried using different downloading clients but it doesn't change, my connection speed is 2mb/ps same as his, I don't connect to the net through a router. Anyone know what my problem is?

Cheers in advance

How do you connect to the net?
Have you tried thid DSL spped check facility and, if so, what results do you get?

Sorry, I didn't notice you said your connection speed is 2Mb/s, but are you actually achieving 2Mb/s ?

I'm getting about a 1.8mb/ps, but yea deffinately a 2mb connection. When i ran a test on i should be getting download speeds of around 200kb/ps, but i get nothing like that.

My experince of BT is that it is very slow, I only used to get top speeds when there was 200+ seeders

make sure your upload speed is set to 23KB/s limit.
Also depends on the client you use.
Don't ask for recommendations here. Have a look at torrent forums.

Are you talking in bits (small b) or Bytes (big B)? Major difference. 1 byte is 8 bits.

Sorry. I am aware of the difference. Just typing too fast.
You're right of course, should be 23Kbs/s

Sorry ashdav, I was directing that question at Azug. I should have put a title in.
