Download problems with Firefox

I use Firefox as my default browser. My 0S is XP Pro.
Recently on my desktop, the Firefox Download window has started to "Clean Up" and close the instant a download has finished. That is, each download, as it finishes, not when the last download has finished. I have tried ticking (and unticking) the "Tools>Options>Close it when all downloads are finished", box, but this does not seem to do anything.

It remains open, with downloads visible, as usual, on my laptop using the same version and OS.

Not a problem I`m familiar with (I also use Firefox but have you tried either reinstalling in case it`s `broken` or going to click here and asking for help.

I have managed to solve the problem. For some reason the:

Options>Privacy>Remember what I've downloaded

had been un-ticked. Don't ask how, I don't have a clue. Anyway, problem solved.
