Down loading iplayer files from the BBC website.

I prefer to download progammes from the iplayer and have done so. But now I get an error messsage stating I must upgade my media player(which is 12 on win7) and directs me to the microsoft web site. However it doesn't make much sense to me as I think I'm up to date! Any opinions?

have you tried using realplayer or iplayers own downloader ?

Are you downloading "For Windows Media Player"? If so then try using "For iPlayer Desktop" instead.

No I haven't, I thought you had to only use WMP12 to get the digital rights, so it plays back! Anyhow older iplayer files are still OK for now, until they are timed out I suspect. WMP sems to be OK with other files, I wonder if it's problem at the BBC end?

No I've never used WMP - always use iPlayer Desktop. I've just downloaded and run a program - and it works perfectly.

Well I've downloaded the desktop iplayer and are getting the same problem! And a quick look at the BBC messageboard there seems to be a bit going on with complaints. But will have to research deeper!
