dotty jpegs

My brother has a problem when viewing jpegs - they appear like a mess of dots.

We've tried changing the display to 32 bits without success.

Any ideas?

snooker, have you viewed the jpeg files on another computer to check that they are not corrupted, and what program is your brother using to view the files?

Screen resolution?

How much of the screen do your jpegs fill?

Do you mean "Blocky" or full of tiny little colour dots?

Do all your other documents display OK?

When you say you've tried changing the display to 32bit without success - do you mean you couldn't change it, or you did change it, but still had the jpeg problem?

The display changed to 32bits 800 x 600 ok
The corrupted jpegs include web images which are ok on other computers and kodak disc photos of various sizes;
I believe other images are ok
The images are small coloured dots and the image is barely decipherable.
The system is 98SE

snooker, again I ask what is your brother using to view the images. Is he using Internet Explorer or another program. A very useful program for viewing almost any type of picture is Irfanview. This is a free download from click here.

Thanks Gongoozler

I'll pass your tip on to my brother.

I have a suspicion that he needs to download the latest driver for the monitor or graphics card.

snooker, the graphics card driver could be the cause, but I would expect that to affect other picture formats as well.
