Does anyone know what the DOS or Visual Basic code is for associating a program with a file extension.

eg. I want TIF and TIFF files to open in Imaging program

I can change the file extension association in Windows by right-clicking a TIF file and selecting Open With and Browsing manually to the Imaging program and ticking the Always open with this program box.

Is there any way to programme this into the Installation program so that users don't have to manually set up the file associations after they install the program?

Do I need a reg file?

You can download some reg files if you click here

Those Reg files only contain the default associations - which links TIF files to the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.

How do I edit the Reg File so that TIF / TIFF files open with Imaging?

I have managed to change the icons of TIF files by using this line :

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TIFImage.Document\DefaultIcon]
@="kodakimg.exe,0"

But I am still unable to change the Open With action from inside the reg file.

Have found how to add Imaging to Open With list but am unable to make it the default Opening action.

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TIFImage.Document\shell\open\command]
@="\"E:\\Program Files\\Imaging\\kodakimg.exe\" \"%1\""

If anyone knows a Registry hack which can make it the default Open action please answer.
