dos boot from usb card reader

Like most people I never use floppys any more and have a usb card reader fitted.

According to my BIOS I can boot from this device, so what do I have to do to a smart card or MMC card to make it bootable so I can boot into dos 6.2 or the like.

I know this may sound old fashioned BUT there are odd times when this can be very useful

you can boot into dos from start up by hitting the F8 key and choosing command prompt. That is if you are using win 98 or earlier ( you omitted the os)

xp does not come with dos as such so what you are attempting is unlikely to work.

Sorry about this but I have obvioulsy not made myself very clear.

Obvioulsy I know XP does not come with DOS, BUT I still have my old MS Dos 6.2 disks and whiloe I have copied the files on to my SD card, I cannot make it a bootable, even though my BIOS says it can be made bootable.

I know it can be done as I have read about it a while ago, I just can't find the article any more.

I would think the process is similar.
