Domains,

Hi everyone,

I hope my question doesn't seem too simple, but:

I would like to know how to set up computers in a domain, what software is required and how practical it is. I already know how to set computers up in workgroups but not in domains.

Someone please advise.

Thanks, James

Your question isn't too simple, it is however a bit vague. A domain shares resources from a central location such a server and a work group shares files and folders and other apps.

Do you have a server? Are you thinking of using a PC as a server? As for software Win2k server or 2K3 is your best bet.

I was thinking of using my Athlon 3200+ system as the server, then use my other desktop and laptop computers to connect to it. If I have Windows 2000 server can I connect to the domain with XP Pro?

Yup.
