Hi All, not sure if any one can help or not, I have a domain set up but when a user logs in (Roaming Profiles) it take a long while to load all the settings etc, I have DHCP set up pointing everything to the server like it should be and although it all seems fine it still takes a while. However if I set up a static IP using exactly the same settings as the DHCP it is instant login!! Has anyone got any ideas what this could be? I thought it would be DNS related but if the settings are the same then it surely can't be.
Im Using Server 2008 (Longhorn) Clients XP Pro and Vista
But then why does it work fine on some networks and not others? surely there is a setting/error on the server and causing this slow down. It doesn't make sense that the settings for DHCP are the same as the static ones but there is a massive increase on login times.... getting an IP from DHCP take seconds usually within windows.
Its just hassle having static, means setting up every computer with a static IP. But I know what you mean.
