Let's rename this site "Google PC Advisor" And then we can all just Google for answers, rather than rely on informed views and answers!!!

I have a new Compaq laptop with Win 7 64bit 8GB RAM installed. 8GB is seen by Win 7

No it should be named Lazy PC Adivsor as many are to bone idle to use their search engine

Thank you all. Inresponse to Feb, thanks for that, to Kevscar- yes you are right but i have had so many dud answers using just Google and wanted 'proper' answers from people more knowledgable people than myself, ie- pc advisor forum!

Sorry feb, I was always under the impression that Google was in the business of providing 'informed views and answers' plus any other information for those that can be BOTHERED to look - and much faster than waiting for replies in a forum.

It just shows how wrong people can be eh?

In a lot of cases typing a keyword into google will give you exactly the answer you where looking for without any confirmation from any of us.
sometimes a little SELF HELP goes a long way...

To answer the first question it depends whether it is 32 bit or 64 bit Vista. 64 bit can 32 bit cannot.

Hi. It depends on your motherboard, it has to have memory mapping! My 64bit windows 7 does NOT see my 4GB of memory and only sees 3.25GB. Why do some people in this forum think that if you google it, you will always get the right answers!

It,s not that but most people can't be bothered to look first.
If they came on and said they had looked but couldn't find the answer or didn't understand it that is diferent.
