I am connecting my S-Video on laptop to S-Video on TV and get a great picture, but no sound. Does S Video carry sound? If it does, where might I be going wrong?

S-video always gives an excellent picture,it separates the monochrome and colour signals giving excellent clarity

You need to use the red and black jack plug cables to add audio.

You can buy S-Video and audio to Scart leads but make sure that the lead is either two-way or the output is from S-Video/audio to Scart.

Maplin`s stock cables such as described by Stuartli. Switchable either as output or input.

But probably much cheaper from a local audio/visual outlet, especially if delivery is added to an online price.
