Does CPU Cache memory fail ?

  cyclingchef 08:29 04 May 2006

After various random errors I tested my memory (1 x 512Mb stick)with Windows Memory Diagnostic
It immediately began posting errors. When I switched off the CPU Cache memory in the BIOS and reran the diagnostc tests it found NO ERRORS.
This would suggest the CPU L1 or L2 Cache memory is faulty. Is it that simple ?
