Document already "open" message

  dajh 17:17 15 Mar 2004

When I open a Word or Excel document I get a message to the effect that the document is already open ....even though it isnt! I am running Word 97 under Win2000. Any ideas as to how I can get rid of this irritating message?

This also appears to be happening with Office 97 applications and XP machines at work. It has only started happening since our IT consultant upgraded all machines with the latest MS updates and service packs. Are Microsoft poisoning their offspring?

Start/Run and run the following commands:3

Winword /r

Excel /regserver

MSAccess /regserver

Powerpnt /regserver

This re-registers each application and rebuilds the file types. Note there is a space before the forward slash.
