Do printers turn off if they get too hot?

I have a hp deskjet 640c and have just printed off 67 pages of the frontpage tutorial and when it finished i turned the printer off and then went to turn it back on but their is no power?? Do they have a cut off if they get to hot?

and I don't know the answer. Many electronic devices do have a thermal cutout which is either reactivated manually by the user pressing a reset button, or which resets automatically after a while.

I have no idea if these are built in to printers, but knowing a bit about the hardware components inside a printer I tend to doubt it.

Your printer should not get hot enough to cause any problems(Unlike the old dot matrix). I regularly print pages in the hundreds from my HP 930. Have you tried disconnecting from the power and/or checked the plug fuse?
