Hi there -- I am thinking of setting up a wireless network at home. I have a desktop pc which would be very close to the modem and router and a laptop which i want to be able to use around the house. I will obviously purchase a PCI card for the laptop, but is it necessary for the PC? Can I just access the router from the PC via ethernet cable? Many thanks for any suggestions.

Yes you cam connect to the router via ethernet.

And is highly advisable aswell incase you get a problem with your wireless connection and need to access your router.

btw you can't use a pci card for a leptop, you will need PCMCIA card or pc-card
