Do I need wireles

  gel 15:25 12 Apr 2008

The forum has been kind to me very recently in giving advice whether or not to use Macafee security which will come free when I switch my ISP to 02
Can I plead a little more help?.
02 will supply a free wireless box.
I have a lap top and a desk top(which I use in-frequently) and I see a lot of problems on this forum with wireless.
Also there seems some security risk with wireless.
My computer activities are confined to my study and I am the only user in our household.
Are there any advantages in me going 'wireless' other than getting rid of a cable?

In your particular circumstance I would say, No need to go wireless.

Using the cable will also be faster.

When you get your free router, use the option to "disable the wireless".

Remember your Macafee will only come free for a while.

You will have to pay for it in the end.

So you might be better off not using macafee and getting the freebies.

Using a cable connection will also be more secure than using wireless (although wireless can be secured with the right encryption). Just make sure - as Fruit Bat /\0/\ has said above - that you disable your router's wireless function so that it can't be hacked into.
