Do AVs and AMs scan for rootkits now ?

Do the Antiviruses and AntiMalware programs scan for rootkits now. A few years ago it was necessary to use a specific AntiRootkit scanner such as Panda AntiRootkit . What is the story these days ?

Malwarebytes, Superantispware and Avast all scan for rootkits.

So a good AV and a good AM covers the bases eg Avast plus either Malwarebytes or SuperAntiSpyware
