After buying one today can any one tell me about WEP keys and how i can improve secrity

It's a method whereby your data is scrambled or encoded and then decoded on arrival at the destination machine.

If you have your router up and running with no problems, that's the time to introduce WEP. Don't attempt it before everything is running OK. You simply apply a chosen key on one machine and make sure the other(s) have a matching key.
