DLink 2 Laptop Problem

I am trying to connect to a Dlink wireless router from a laptop. The router can see the MAC address of the laptop, but the laptop can not obtain a vaild IP address, instead returns an IP address of

I know it is porbalbe a simple solution but after 2 hours im stumped

In XP go to Control Panel>Network Connections and right click the wireless connection and select properties. Under the General Tab scroll down and select the TCP/IP and select properties again. Make sure that both settings are set to "Obtain automatically".

If that doesn`t work post back the model of router and the actual OS you are using.

OK lap top gone away. Im sure brother will attempt again next time he vists, but until the no more connection problems.
