Distorted Sound

  briandy 14:37 23 Oct 2008

There is a distortion in the sound coming from my speakers. I have tested the speakers on another PC and they are OK.

I thought it may be the sound chips on the motherboard but I have disabled them and installed a PCI sound card but the distortion is still there.

I have updated all drivers using Driver Agent but with no success. Searching the internet has suggested corrupt windows sound files.
Would it be safe to copy the sound files from my laptop to my desktop as both machines are running XP with SP2.

I need to investgate this before looking any further.

try running sfc /scannow it should clear up dodgy files.
