Display goes biserk but the monitor is fine...

I'm trying to determine if I need a new graphics card or motherboard or something else. I have an 18 month old Gateway GM5066E mediacenter pc with TV tuner. The monitor suddenly started showing streaks and patches that progressively got worse and worse as the pc heated up.If left alone, it would eventually shut down windows leaving a blue screen with error messages. It behaves for the first 30 minutes to and hour when turned on after being off all night. The monitor works fine on another pc so I know that's not the problem. I don't know the specifics on the motherboard; it is integrated graphics, no separate card that I know of. Any ideas for me to try before paying someone to do it? I'm no expert, but I have added ram, harddrives, scsis, and modems, etc. in the past.
Thanks for any help you can give!

You could try adding a graphics card rather than run off the onboard.

First I would try cleaning out all fans and grills make sure there is a good airflow though the PC.
