Display driver failure

My Toshiba Equium A60-692 Pentium 4 256Mb upgraded to 512Mb RAM 40Gb Hard disk 3 yr old laptop randomly stops and displays message that there is a fault with the display driver then magnifies everything on screen. I have to turn it off, start again and then it's fine until next time it does that. Just before it is about to mess up, it stops responding makes a bit of fan noise and sort of freezes.

I also have problems opening certain websites - nothing dodgy I haste to add - and if it doesn't open at normal speed I know that I get the message ("not responding"). It's actually a lot of websites that I cannot open which is frustrating.

Any advice on what could be the problem welcome.

Probably means exactly that, download latest VGA drivers, uninstall the ones you have now, reinstall new ones...

Ok thank you Santos but where do I get the latest VGA drivers please? I'm useless at IT.
What about the "not responding" websites? is it a virus? What do you suggest?

Toshiba web site drivers just check OS is the correct one

could be virus/malware scan your lappy with what ever you have..
click here

use the prog in the link, it will help clean your lappy up a bit..
if you can get your display working properly first that will help..
