Disks arent read

My computer has stopped reading disks for some reason , why is this?
If i disconnect the disk drive then reconnect it -it works for a short time again .

my hard drive is a maxtor sata 7200 rpm , and my disc drive is a sony 16x dual layer dvd rewritable.

the wires are firmly on and i dont think its faulty as it wouldve been faulty since i got it wouldnt it

Drives can just wear out, so therefore it could be faulty. If you can try a different drive.

its only 4 months old though

Have you checked the BIOS to make sure it is as it should be?

It may have developed a Fault, Can you test it in another Computer

how do i check the bios
