I've been told this is an excellent defrag tool. Can anyone confirm?
If not please suggest an alternative.

I have it and although it is NOT free, it is in my opinion, a vast improvement over the XP version. (assuming you are running XP!)

I'm running the D.P.9 on XP and it's brilliant.

Set it and forget it and it sits in the background and de-frags when it's needed.

Cost about £20 from Staples but I expect it's available cheaper elsewhere.

Very impressed with it. Worth the money. Get the 30 day trial from here click here

I have it set to auto and it works fine you do not know it is there until you check and find that your drives are 100% defragged all the time.
